City Twinning : Coimbatore, India – Esslingen, Germany

Esslingen Coimbatore Association (Esscom) is found under the Societies Act, 1975 to facilitate the twinning between both the cities and was found in Nov 2008.


The native people of Coimbatore are traditional in their lifestyle, beliefs and values. They are well known for their impeccable hospitality and entrepreneurship. Qualification, mannerism and politeness are inherit traits. Although Coimbatoreans are native ‘Kongu’ people, there is a strong integration of people from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and North India mainly Gujaratis engaged in trade and commerce. The religion is predominantly Hinduism followed by Islam, Christianity and Sikhism.
