City Twinning : Coimbatore, India – Esslingen, Germany
Esslingen Coimbatore Association (Esscom) is found under the Societies Act, 1975 to facilitate the twinning between both the cities and was found in Nov 2008.
Coimbatore enjoys an overall pleasant weather throughout the year as it is ensconced by the Western Ghats on the West and the North. The Western Ghats and rivers such as Bhavani, Noyyal, Aliyar and Siruvani bring in tropical wet and dry climate with cool winds. The average temperature during summer is observed to be 360C with dry heat and during winter is 11.70C.
The region is chilled with occasional drizzling, raining and high velocity winds during south – west monsoons (from June to August) and north – east monsoons from (October to November). The annual rainfall is recorded to be 700 mm.
The best season to be in Coimbatore is July – February, when the climate is soothing, mildly sunny and slightly humid.
